There are some people that go unnoticed and others that leave the sign after their passage. Daphne Guinness is certainly part of the last category. Some will wonder who this eccentric woman, the better informed and fashion followers know full well that is one of the icons of contemporary fashion and avant-garde. Unmistakable style called "Gothic Aesthetic", stands during her appearances on 18 cm high-heels, wearing necklace designed by her and Shaun Leane. Rarely uses the colors preferring black and white looks, not to mention never touches metal, lurex even in her more casual look. David LaChapelle has said that "she is a synthesis between art and fashion, because she believes strongly that the best per, the most creative designers, like Lee McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent because they are artists. Daphne is always herself." Collect pieces of art and haute couture, friends and muse of visionary artists such as Karl Lagerfeld, Gareth Pugh and the great friend McQueen, has purchased the entire collection of clothes for fear of Isabella Blow, and auction them dispersedwere lost forever. The first one to have been able to wear so casually the "Armadillo", the McQueen's futuristic shoes. The only one to have prepared for the Met in the Barneys' windows in New York, the only one staged for the launch of her jewelry collection a fake "wake" with a farewell kiss of her friend Tom Ford .
The eccentricity is certainly not lacking, but only when it is strongly desired for purely artistic interpretation of everyday life, is acceptable. To pay tribute to her strong and eclectic personality, fashion expert Valerie Steele, has decided to dedicate an exhibition at the Museum at FIT New York from September 16 to January 7, her collaboration was essential for the realization of installations in mirrors and gauze bondage effect. A hundred of his private collection of clothes that include creations by Dior, Chanel, Givenchy, Valentino, Lacroix, Alaïa, Gareth Pugh, the hat maker Philip Treacy, ripercorranno his class and his own inclination towards the art of fashion avant-garde. The exhibition will be called simply "Daphne Guinness," to remember that she is among the most admired icons of style and certainly loves to make a difference, because her life is her stage.
