Fashi-Off's portrait: Alexa Chung

La prima volta che vidi Alexa Chung su Elle Uk di qualche anno fa, pensai: ma è possibile che una giovane modella possa essere così vicina allo stereotipo di donna che appartiene a me?!! Costantemente attratta da una vita all'insegna dell'indie mood, fuori dagli schemi, con un look casual ma sofisticato e curato, fidanzata con un rocker di tutto rispetto (era la compagna di Alex Turner, front man degli Arctic Monkys). Trucco semplice, capelli in disordine, sorriso sempre sulle labbra, musa di Karl Lagerfeld che la definisce una "semplice ragazza moderna", amante della musica tanto da farla diventare la presentatrice di It's on with Alexa Chung, (un talk show in cui intervista i suoi ospiti seduta su un comodo divano). Tutti ormai conoscono la 28enne britannica dagli occhi azzurri dai tratti orientali, tutti hanno provato a copiare il suo look e tutti vorrebbero entrare nel suo armadio che contiene un mix di capi vintage, mass market e una selezione curatissima dei migliori Brand del momento, prediligendo quelli Francesi come Chanel e i suoi amici della scena britannica da Sarah Burton a Erdem, da Christopher Bailey a Mary Kantranzou. Non è difficile incrociarla per le vie hypster di Londra con indosso un parka e combat boots o per le vie di New York con look vagamente preppy e new romantic con qualche nota rock! Fashi-off è particolarmente affascinato dalla sua personalità così poliedrica e sfaccettata, soprattutto per aver dimostrato che una modella oltre ad essere bella e con un portamento elegante è anche intelligente e culturalmente preparata e di avere una parlantina tanto efficace quanto scoppiettante. Lei è Alexa Chung, l'inglesina così cool che è stata ufficialmente nominata Fashion Ambassador dal British Fashion Council e che ora ripromette: "appoggerò lo stile britannico e mi farò portavoce e sostenitrice dei designers emergenti". Di questo non avevamo dubbi. E' così popolare che non c'è magazine che non l'abbia voluta nella propria cover. Nell'attesa dii vederla presto in prima fila alle prossime sfilate Fall/Winter, si è aggiudicata l'ennesima copertina di Elle Uk.
